The paper is watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn. Beneath the shield are the initials ‘D&C B[lauw]’.

Additional Comments:

The MS has been folded into four (since unfolded). There is some minor tearing to the lower portion of the vertical fold line on each folio, and a small hole at the centre of f.102. There are three ink blots in the left-hand margin of f.100v, and a further four in the left-hand margin of f.101r. The iron gall ink used to write the letter is beginning to cause some corrosion to the paper.

The MS has been endorsed ‘No.44’ in the upper left-hand corner of f.99r. The first word of l.2 on f.100r has been underlined, and a number ‘2’ has been added to the upper left-hand corner of f.101r and underlined twice.
