The paper is watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn, beneath which is text reading: ‘D&C Blauw’.

Additional Comments:

The MS features one horizontal and two vertical fold lines. The paper was also folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. Several postmarks have been stamped on f.2v, and these have left imprints on f.1. The wax seal is partially extant on f.2r. Ink from Voltaire’s signature on f.2r has transferred onto the left-hand margin of f.1v. There is a small ink blot at the bottom of f.2v.

Several postmarks have been stamped over the address on f.2v. Part of l.11 of f.1v has been underlined. The address has been added in Wagnière’s hand. A later hand has added a large number ‘6’ has been added to the upper left-hand corner of f.1r.
