The MS is bound with other letters in the collection in calf.
Additional Comments:
The MS was sealed using the ‘Tuck-and-Seal’ method. The wax seal is no longer extant but has caused some damage to f.242. The paper was also folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. There are two pairs of pin holes at the bottom of the MS, a number of small ink blots across f.242r, and a small ink splatter over l.2 on f.241r.
A second hand has added a bibliographical reference to the upper left-hand corner of f.241r. The same hand has endorsed the MS at the top of f.241r as ‘Lettre LIII’. A Basle post mark has been stamped over the address on f.242v, and several other postmarks have been drawn over the same.
