The letter was sealed using the ‘Tuck, Fold, and Seal’ method. The wax seal is partially extant on f.2 and has caused some damage to the same. The letter has also been folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. Ink from f.1v has transferred onto f.2r.

An omitted word has been added superscript to the final line of f.1r. The word ‘critique’ on the antepenultimate line of f.1v has been underlined and l.13-15 of f.1v have been crossed out. Five postmarks have been stamped over the address panel on f.2v, and a large red ‘X’ has been drawn over the same. A later, unknown hand has added the number ’15’ to the upper left-hand corner of f.1r.
