The letter was sealed using the ‘Tuck-and-Seal’ method before sending. The wafer seal is extant on f.2 and has caused some damage to the same. There is a smudge of ink in the upper left-hand corner of f.2v.

The library stamp of the Académie de Mâcon has been added to the address panel on f.2v and to the upper left-hand corner of f.1r. A marginal note has been added to the lower left-hand margin of f.1r and has been connected to l.13 via the use of a corresponding symbol.
