The paper is partially watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn, topped with a crown. The watermark is partial due to the paper being cut.

Additional Comments:
The paper was folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. There is some discolouration to the centre of the MS, possibly caused the documents between which this MS was stored. There is a small circular stain in the upper left-hand margin of f.1v.

The number ’34’ has been added to the upper left-hand corner of f.1r. There is a minor correction to the first word of l. on f.1r in the form of corrected text being written over the top of incorrect text. The correction added by Voltaire to the margin of the original copy of this letter has been replicated on f.1v.
