The paper has been folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. There is an additional horizontal fold line close to the bottom edge of the page. Some of the text sparkles due to pounce being absorbed into the ink. There is a small ink splatter over l.2 of f.1r and over l.18-22 of f.2r. There is an ink blot over l.12 of f.1v.

Voltaire has made numerous corrections throughout in the form of crossings out, and crossings out with corrected text added superscript. Omitted text has also been added superscript. The number ‘200’ has been added to the upper left-hand corner of f.1r by a later hand in green ink. A large letter ‘E’ has also been added to the upper left-hand corner of f.2v.
