The paper is watermarked with a lion holding a bushel of wheat and a staff topped with a hat. The lion is contained within a circle frame topped with a crown. Around the circle are the words: ‘LIBERTE PRO PATRIA EIUSQUE’. The lion is stood on a base, beneath which is the word: ‘VRYHEYT’.

The letter has been folded into four (since unfolded). The paper has also been folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. There is a small blob of red wax in the lower right-hand corner of f.2v.
