The MS has been folded into four (since unfolded). There is a minor tear to the left-hand side of p.154 that has been repaired with tape. There is some staining to the top and the right-hand side of the MS. P.155 is significantly torn, causing some loss of the text. Missing words have been added by a later annotator.

Undecorated

Additions:

There is a minor correction to l.5 in the form of corrected text being written over the top of incorrect text. A second hand has endorsed the MS as ‘No.82*’ in the upper left-hand corner of p.153. The same hand has also added a bibliographical reference to the bottom of p.153. A third hand has added a marginal note to the left-hand margin of p.153 that suggests that Voltaire was deceived into thinking that the King of Bologna had subscribed to one of his works. A fourth hand has added words lost when p.155 of the MS was torn to the paper on which the page has been affixed.
