A second hand has endorsed the MS as ‘No.26’ in the upper left-hand corner of p.65. The same hand has also added a bibliographical reference to the bottom of p.65, and a footnote to the bottom of the same expanding upon a matter mentioned in the letter. This footnote is linked to the main text through the use of a corresponding symbol. The phrase over which this symbol has been placed has been underlined, and brackets have been drawn around the following four lines. The word ‘Cirey’ has also been underlined on l.8. A third hand has added a provenance note to the top of p.65 that has subsequently been crossed out.
