A second hand has endorsed the MS as ‘No.11*’ in the upper left-hand corner of p.39. The same hand has also added a bibliographical reference to the bottom of p.39 and a footnote identifying a text mentioned in the letter. This note is linked to the main text through the use of a corresponding symbol. A third hand has made a marginal note in the lower left-hand corner of p.39 reading: ‘le texte bon qouique rayé’. The italian phrase on l.3 of p.40 has been underlined, and there is a minor correction to the start of l.11 of p.39 in the form of a crossing out.
