Brief Summary:

Signed letter from Voltaire to Mr Bonnard, a lawyer, written in the hand of Wagnière from Paris and dated 2 April 1778.

Detailed Summary:

Voltaire writes that the kindness that Mr Bonnard and Mr. Goupi honoured him with is most precious to him. He adds that he has the greatest desire to end his days in the house of which Mr Bonnard spoke, and to be near the palais du Bourbon, noting that it would be the consolation of the rest of his life which is overwhelmed with cruel illnesses. In conclusion, Voltaire writes that if he could go out, he would come to Mr Bonnard and thank him for the generous offers that he and Mr Goupi have made him. This letter was composed less than two months before Voltaire’s death on 30 May 1778.
