The paper was folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. There are two pairs of pin holes towards the bottom of the MS.

Additions:

A second hand has added a bibliographical reference to the upper left-hand corner of f.207r. The same hand has also added marginal notes throughout expanding on, or identifying, matters mentioned in the text. These notes are linked to the main text through the use of corresponding symbols. The first four words of l.1 on f.207v have been underlined. Voltaire has added the final three lines of the letter in his own hand to f.208r. These read: ‘Jay eté aussi aise du retablissement dela santé de Monsieur le duc de Choiseul que faché de sam méprise sur mon compte’.
