Voltaire and Mme Denis are inviting Lekain to travel to Dijon and, from there, to visit them. Both writers give their views of Crébillon’s recent tragedy, Le Triumvirat.
The bulk of Voltaire’s message is in the hand of Villaume, with only the sentence ‘Je vous embrasse tendrement’ and the signature being autograph, and squeezed in between lines. Mme Denis has written her own part of the letter. The notation ‘4e’ appears in the top left corner of p.3339, below which the cataloguer has written ‘no.139 à M. Lekain’.
