The paper has been folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. The letter was sealed using the ‘Tuck-and-Seal’ method before sending. The wafer seal is extant on f.2v and has caused some damage to the same. It is embossed with Voltaire’s coat of arms. There is an ink splatter over the first line of f.1v.
