Additions:
Two footnotes containing corrections have been added to the MS. The first corresponds to the word ‘strophes’ on l.10 and reads: ‘Lisez: sentiments. Note de l’édition de Grimm, p.162 (Grimm 1re part. T. 3).’ The second corresponds to a gap in the text after the word ‘religion’ on l.31. It reads: ‘Lisez: de ce qui interesse mes amis‘. In between the two footnotes is a note in a different hand that reads: ‘Voir lett. de Volt. du 2 fevrier 1761’. The letter referenced here is D9597.
