Incipit Modernised:
Je vous demande en grâce, monsieur, de vouloir bien faire payer pour moi trois cent vingt-six livres à l’ordre de M. Bacon, substitut de M. le procureur général.
There is a rectangle of discolouration over the letter on f.1r. This suggests that the letter was once stored in a frame and has been sun-damaged. The lower right-hand corner of both leaves have been stuck together. Some tearing around this site of adhesion has occurred. There are two sets of pin holes running through the lower portion of the MS. A small strip of paper has been stuck to the top of f.2v.
Notes have been added, in two separate hands, to the bottom of f.1r. The first reads ‘pour acquit Bacon’. The second is signed with an indistinguishable signature. The address panel has been added in the hand of Durey de Morsan.
