Voltaire has added the title ‘reponse a mr desmahis’ to the top of f.189r. Two endorsements have been added in different, unknown hands in the upper left-hand corner of the same. The first reads: ‘fait partie d’une lettre’. The second reads: ‘est sans le Vol: d’Epitres année 1756’. Two notes have beenadded the the left-hand margin of f.189v. These are linked to the main text through the use of corresponding symbols.
