Letter from Voltaire to Heinrich von Podewils, graf von Podewils, written in the hand of Villaume from Potsdam and dated 17 March [1752].
Detailed Summary:
Voltaire asks for the comte de Podewils’ pardon for sending him some “rags in sheets”, but notes that he has only just received the necessary boxes and does not have time to have them bound.
The paper is partially watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn, topped with a crown.

The upper left-hand corner of f.161r has been torn away. There are several small pin holes in the lower left-hand corner of the same. There are three larger holes also along the left-hand side of f.161r. Two stains can be found on f.161v, one of which is circular in shape and seems to have been caused by a drinking vessel. There is an ink blot to the left of this stain.
A diagram has been drawn on f.161v. The diagram is rectangular in shape. Two vertical lines have been drawn within the rectangle to create a central strip and two protruding rectangles come off this strip. What the diagram represents is unclear.
