The MS has been folded into four (since unfolded). There is a small circular stain between l.4 and l.5 on f.91r, possible caused by wax. Ink from the facing page has transferred onto f.91v.

The MS has been endorsed as ‘No.40’ in the upper left-hand corner of f.91r. There is a minor correction to l.5 of f.92r in the form of corrected text being written over the top of incorrect text. Voltaire has added a marginal note to the right-hand side of f.92r reading: ‘chacun souscrit pour plusieurs exemplaires.’
