The paper is watermarked with a crown and the initials ‘GR’.

Additional Comments:
The MS has been folded into four (since unfolded). The paper has also been folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. Some of the ink from facing pages has transferred onto f.63v and f.64r. There are ink splatters at the ends of words throughout.
The MS has been endorsed ‘No.28’ in the upper left-hand corner of f.63r. The final lines of the letter on f.64r have been added in Voltaire’s hand. A third hand has added a note beneath the date line on f.64r stating that the letter was replied to on 4 January 1761.
