Additional Comments:
The quarto pages were folded into four (since unfolded). The folio pages have been folded down to quarto size. They feature three vertical and three horizontal fold lines. There is a tear to the left-hand side of f.21r, and several small ink blots to the top of f.22r. There is a small ink splatter over l.11 of f.23r and the antepenultimate line of the same. Remnants of red wax can be found at the top of f.23v and there is a small stain in the upper right-hand corner of f.24r.
The MS has been endorsed ‘No.9’ at the top of f.21r. There are several minor corrections throughout in the form of crossings out, the addition of corrected text superscript, and corrected text being written over the top of incorrect text. Though the enclosed note is primarily written in the hand of Wagnière, Voltaire has made occasional annotations and corrections, such as at the end of l.18 on f.22r and on l.19 of f.22v. Names have been underlined throughout the enclosed note.
