The letter was sealed using the ‘Tuck, Fold, and Seal’ method before sending. The wax seal is extant on f.97v and has caused some damage to the same. A small tab of paper was affixed to the lower left-hand corner of f.96v with wax. L.1, and most of l.2, on .96r are written in a darker ink than the rest of the letter and with a wider nib, suggesting that Voltaire may have changed his pen after commencing the letter.
There is a minor correction to l.5 of f.96v in the form of corrected text being written over the top of incorrect text. A postmark has been drawn over the top of the address on f.97v, and a Lyon postmark has been stamped above the same.
