The paper is watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn, topped with a crown. Beneath the shield is a cow bell and text reading: ‘J. Honig & Zoonen’.

The letter was sealed using the ‘Tuck-and-Seal’ method. There are remnants of the wax seal on f.2v and it has caused some damage to the same. The letter has also been folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. There is some soiling and ink transfer from facing pages throughout.
