The paper is watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn, topped with a crown. Beneath the shield is text reading: ‘D&C B[lauw]’.

Additional Comments:

The letter was folded into four (since unfolded). The paper has also been folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. There are several minor tears to the outer edges of the MS, and a small holes along the central bifolium fold line. Ink from the facing page has transferred onto f.1v-2r. There is a blot of ink in the form of a thin line towards the bottom of f.2r and a faint stain on the left-hand side of f.2v possible caused by a wax seal. A faint postmark has been stamped at the top of f.1r, but this appears to be an ink transfer from another document.
