The letter was sealed before sending. The wax seal is no longer extant but has caused some damage to f.4. There are a number of small holes and tears to the fold lines. Ink from another document has transferred onto the bottom of f.4v, and there is a small ink blot in the lower left-hand corner of f.1r.

There is a minor correction to l.14 of f.1r in the form of corrected text being written over the top of incorrect text. F.1v has been left blank but crossed out. F.2r has similarly been crossed out, with the phrase ‘je ne me suis pas apercu que javais pris quatre feuillets pour deux’ added to the right of the line. The date line has been added by Wagnière.
