The letter has been drafted on the verso of a fragment of Mahomet (CMV36672). The page is numbered ’13’. The fragment of Mahomet appears in a very different form halfway through Act IV, Scene V, with the opening line beginning: ‘L’amour de mon devoir et de ma nation / Et ma reconnaissance et ma relligion’.
