Detailed Summary:

Émilie du Châtelet notes that despite not wanting Voltaire to find out about Desfontaine’s attack, she feels it deserves a response. She offers a suggestion of such a response, and asks d’Argental for his feedback. She then goes on to discuss her anger at Tiriot, before informing d’Argental about Voltaire’s latest tragedy play.
