The paper is watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn, topped with a crown. Beneath the shield are the initials ‘D & C B[lauw]’.

The MS was folded into four (since unfolded). The upper portion of the letter appears to have been cut away. Ink from the facing page has transferred onto the bottom of f.1v. There is a small hole in the left-hand margin of f.2r, and some tearing to the right-hand side of the same. There is further minor tearing to the fold lines.
