The MS was sealed using the ‘Tuck, Fold, and Seal’ method. The wax seal is partially extant on f.2v and has caused some damage to the same. Some of the text on f.1r sparkles due to pounce being absorbed into the ink.

The Latin phrase on l.1-2 has been underlined and significant portions of the text have been crossed out on f.1r. A marginal note has been added to the bottom of f.1r in a second, unknown hand explaining the Latin quotation used in the letter. This note is linked to the main text through the use of a corresponding symbol. A Geneva postmark has been stamped above the address on f.2v.
