Detailed Summary:
Voltaire briefly touches upon the Dias brothers and James Shephard, before mentioning a forgotten word. He then states that he defers to de Missy for the preface to Mahomet as he sees from his letters that he is far from superstitious and that he is a good editor and friend. He ends by asking about the progress of the universal histoy.
A wax seal (partially extant) on f.156v has caused some damage to the same folio. The letter has been folded and sent using the ‘Tuck, Fold, and Seal’ method.
Some sections of the text have been underlined. F.165r is stamped with the library stamp of Louis-Nicolas-Jean-Joachim de Cayrol and the Bibliothèque Impériale. A postage stamped had been stamped on f.166v.
