Autograph letter signed from Voltaire to César de Missy, dated 3 December 1742.
Detailed Summary:
Voltaire writes that he is concerned for de Missy’s health as he has sent him two packages, one from Brussels [D2684] and another from Paris [D2691], but has heard no news from de Missy. He asks de Missy to write to him at St Honoré.
A wax seal (partially extant) on f.156v has caused some damage to the same folio. There is an ink blot on f.156r. The letter has been folded and sent using the ‘Tuck, Fold, and Seal’ method.
F.155r is stamped with the library stamp of Louis-Nicolas-Jean-Joachim de Cayrol and the Bibliothèque Impériale. A postage stamp has been stamped above the address on f.156v.
