Autograph letter from Voltaire to César de Missy, written from Brussels and dated 7 November 1742.
Detailed Summary:
Voltaire writes that he received de Missy’s undated letter and is making up a small package of three acts of the real version of Mahomet which he will send, as per de Missy’s instructions, to Mr Lokman. He adds that he will leave for Paris on the 15th, and will arrive on the 17th or 18th so he will not be able to send the final two acts until around the 20th. In the meantime, he writes that he will send a dedicatory epistle to Frederick II of Prussia, which is a letter Voltaire wrote to him two years ago about Mahomet. He confirms that he does not want to hear from the bookseller and that he entrusts all to de Missy, but would be obliged if the bookseller could keep two dozen copies that he could send to his friends.
