Brief Summary:

Autograph letter from Voltaire to Marc Pierre de Voyer, comte d’Argenson, dated ‘Samedy 8’ [June 1743].

Detailed Summary:

Voltaire writes that he will leave on Friday for the business that d’Argenson knows of. He notes that it is a secretive matter and that if d’Argenson wishes him to come to Versailles so that he can give Voltaire some orders, Voltaire would be honoured to do so secretly at the time d’Argenson prescribes. He asks that the auction be postponed until the end of the following week because his cousin Marchand is expecting the arrival of two large merchants who will serve d’Argenson well.
