Voltaire writes that he has given de Marville all that has been given to him. He then asks that de Marville returns the third volume of a text that Voltaire left on de Marville’s fireplace.

The paper features an additional horizontal and vertical fold lines. The letter was sealed with wax and this seal has caused some damage in the lower right-hand corner of f.2r. There are remnants of black wax in the upper corners of f.2v. Tape has been added along the fold line on f.2v and there are two small indentations in the left-hand margin of f.1r. The text is written at a slight angle and there is a small ink blot on l.12 of f.1r.
