In the letter Charles-Marie de La Condamine writes with personal news, saying that he is 71 and must reduce his expenses. He notes that he is consequently thinking of selling his books and moving to live in London. He ends by talking about leading figures of the time, and discusses a statue that is being made of Voltaire.
