Voltaire discusses plans for the building of a new town. He discusses his hopes that the wealthy would invest in it, and assures Jaucourt that he has put in a good word with Madame de Choiseul for Jaucourt’s son-in-law, whom he hopes will become a captain in Voltaire’s regiment.

The memorandum was written in Ferney and is dated 31 May 1761. It concerns the rebuilding of the church at Ferney and addresses the various concerns raised about this rebuilding.

The MS features three designs of different elevations for a building designed for Voltaire and drawn in ink. The initial pencil sketches are visible beneath the ink sketches.
