The paper is watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn. Beneath the shield is written: ‘D&C Blauw’.

Additional Comments:
The MS was folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. The letter was sealed using the ‘Tuck-and-Seal’ method before sending. The wafer seal is extant on f.2v, was stamped with Voltaire’s coat of arms, and has caused some damage to the same folio. There is a slight ink splatter on the final word of f.2r.
There is a minor correction to the penultimate line of f.1v in the form of corrected text being written over the top of incorrect text. Several postmarks have been added to f.2v. The MS is endorsed as ’26’ in the upper left-hand corner of f.1r.
