The paper is watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn. Beneath the shield is written: ‘D&C Blauw’.

Additional Comments:
The MS was folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. The letter was sealed using the ‘Tuck-and-Seal’ method before sending. Remnants of the wafer seal are extant on f.2v and the seal has caused some damage to the same. There are several inkblots beneath the address panel on f.2v. Some of the ink from f.1v has transferred onto the left-hand side of f.2r.
