Additional Comments:

There is a stain at the bottom of f.30r that appears to have been caused by a pale brown liquid. There is some ink transfer from one of Voltaire’s corrections on f.32r onto f.31v. The paper has been folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. There is a small blob of red wax over l.7 of f.33v.

Decorations:

Undecorated

Additions:

There are numerous corrections throughout, the majority of which are in Voltaire’s hand. Large sections have been crossed out, and additional text has been included. These corrections have been made in a variety of inks, suggesting that Voltaire continually revised the MS, rather than making all of his corrections at once. Lines and select phrases have been underlined throughout. A symbol has been drawn at the end of l.10 of f.30r that appears to suggest that the section corresponds to another passage.
