The paper is watermarked with a shield bearing a post horn, topped with a crown. Beneath the shield is a cow bell and text reading: ‘J. Honig & Zoonen’.

The letter was sealed using the ‘Tuck, Fold, and Seal’ method. There are remnants of the wax seal on f.2v and it has caused some damage to the same. The letter has also been folded to create a left-hand margin on both the recto and verso sides. There is some soiling and ink transfer from facing pages throughout.
